Job Summary:

Responsible to provide pre-employment training to adolescents with disabilities, ages 14-22, in a school-based setting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides training and conducts activities to prepare youth for future employment opportunities.

2. Assists youth in developing vocational skills consistent with the youth’s objectives and goals.

3. Develops individual pre-employment plans which identify areas of strengths and specific vocational goals.

4. Utilizes individual plans to develop activities which promote vocational skill development.

5. Develops and implements interactive individual sessions, group activities and workshops in alignment with the pre-employment curriculum. Sessions would include career exploration, job seeking skills, understanding employer expectations for punctuality and performance, effective communication in the workplace, accessing transportation, workplace etiquette, computer literacy, scheduling, exploration of benefits, financial literacy, budgeting and more.

6. Advises youth on various college/ university opportunities that would include how to apply for college, applying for financial aid, etc.

7. Educates youth on their rights and responsibilities and assists youth with learning self-advocacy skills.

8. Documents youth activities and monitors and tracks progress.

9. Ensures required paperwork and documentation is up-to-date and maintained according to policies and procedures.

10. Works collaboratively with the Vocational Counselor, school teacher and Easterseals administrative team to ensure youth’s success.

11. Participants in team meetings to discuss the program and youth’s progress.

12. Works with the VP of Programs/ Services to promote, plan, organize and provide activities, which enhance learning experiences for youth.

13. Works collaboratively with ESWG’s administration and other staff to ensure all aspects of the program development and delivery are consistent with ESWG’s mission.

14. Attends in-service training to maintain and increase knowledge and skills in the field of supported employment services and special education. Successfully completes at least 20 hours of relevant training per year. Maintains current First Aid, CPR and CPI certifications.

15. Reports any evidence of abuse and/or neglect immediately to VP of Programs/ Services or CEO.

16. Respects and preserves the dignity, personal safety and confidentiality of all persons served or employed by ESWG.

17. Adheres to ESWG's policies and procedures, and appropriate licensing and accreditation standards.

18. Maintains effective and co-operative work relations with others.

19. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

WORKING EXPECTATIONS:

· Sessions and workshops are provided in the school setting.

· Requires ability to travel to school sites to conduct pre-employment training.

· Youth are supervised at all times. Under no circumstances are youth left unattended.

· Professionalism is always exercised in the presence of youth, general public, visitors and other staff. It is ensured that all activities and conversations are always geared toward what is appropriate.

· Regular attendance and punctuality are required.

· Must be able to work in fast-paced, busy environments.

· To ensure quality of services provided, staff are expected to receive a rating of 20 (meets expectation) or higher on all performance reviews. Scoring under 20 will result in the staff member being placed on a 1-3 month probation until the level of quality is improved or termination may result.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or GED required.

2. One year of related experience required.

3. Good Interpersonal skills with children and adults required.

4. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds repetitively. Ability to walk, stand, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time. Ability to push/pull wheelchairs on a variety of terrain.

5. Obtain successful fingerprint criminal background check and drug screening clearance.

6. Communicate well orally and in writing.

7. Interpret and carry out written or oral instructions.

8. Strong ability to convey concepts and content in an engaging way and be a strong motivator.

9. Strong problem solving and decision making skills are important.

10. Must be a good multi-tasker, scheduler, and time manager.

11. Strong computer skills and knowledge of documenting in an electronic data management system.
