Life Skills Coach (Adult Day Program)
Location: Columbus, GA | Type: Full-Time | Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8-Hour Shift
The Role
Are you passionate about empowering others? As a Life Skills Coach, you are the leader of the classroom. You will design, plan, and implement comprehensive therapeutic programs that help adults with disabilities achieve independence. Working closely with our administrative team, you will ensure that every activity aligns with our mission to provide dignity, growth, and community for our participants.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Design
Plan & Organize: Design daily lesson plans and therapeutic activities that facilitate individual learning and socialization.
ISP/POC Implementation: Take primary responsibility for implementing Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Plans of Care (POC) for all participants in your assigned room.
Progress Tracking: Maintain detailed documentation and track participant progress toward their specific goals and objectives.
Participant Advocacy & Care
Holistic Support: Provide instruction and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, and nutritional habits.
Safety First: Supervise all activities to ensure a safe environment, maintaining strict adherence to safety and licensing standards.
Observation: Act as the primary point of contact for the Adult Director regarding changes in participant behavior, health, or appearance.
Environment: Maintain a warm, welcoming, and clean classroom environment for participants, caregivers, and volunteers.
Professional Standards
Compliance: Adhere to all ESWG policies, licensing standards, and confidentiality (HIPAA) requirements.
Continuous Growth: Complete 20+ hours of annual in-service training and maintain First Aid, CPR, and CPI certifications.
Team Collaboration: Work effectively with the VP of Programs and Assessment Specialists to evaluate and evolve program delivery.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required).
Experience: Proven experience working with adults in a rehabilitation, educational, or caregiving environment.
Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a classroom and manage assistant staff.
Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interpret and execute complex instructions.
Compliance: Must obtain a fingerprint criminal background check clearance.
