JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for billing/coding, pre-authorizations, and collection of all participant service fees and other programs as directed under the direct supervision of the Director of Behavior Support Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Review and analyze medical documentation to ensure accurate and timely billing.
· Assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses and procedures.
· Submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding payments.
· Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations.
· Maintain patient records and confidentiality of sensitive information.
· Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies.
· Stay updated on industry changes and regulations related to medical billing.
· Greets and assists all parents, callers and visitors in a positive and professional manner, and relays information appropriately.
· Maintains accurate and orderly filing system for participants records.
· Prepares files for incoming participants. Establishes participant status within ABA platform
· Respects and preserves the dignity, personal safety and confidentiality of all persons served by or employed by ESWG.
· Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Behavior Support Services.
WORKING EXPECTATIONS:
· Staff will always exercise professionalism in the presence of participants, visitors, and other staff. Staff will ensure that all activities and conversations are always geared toward what is appropriate.
· To ensure quality of services provided, staff are expected to receive a rating of 20 (meets expectation) or higher on all performance reviews.
· Scoring under 20 will result in the staff member being placed on a 1–3-month probation until the level of quality is improved or termination may result.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing preferred.
· At least two years of experience in healthcare billing.
· ABA Therapy experience is a plus but not required.
· Proficient in medical terminology, coding systems, and billing software.
· Knowledge of insurance guidelines, claim submission processes, and reimbursement procedures.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
· Familiarity with medical collections is a plus.
· Working hours are determined by program need.
